What a warm, active, joyful, fruitful church. We give mighty praise and thanks to God for representing and spreading God's kingdom in such a beautiful way. We came for the dedication of Freya and Jessicca today and have been thrilled to come and worship our Lord, give him thanks, commune and be part of this important event in James and Alison's children's journey with the Lord. David is an amazing shepherd of the Lord. Again we give praise and thanks to God for his leadership. Coffee and lunch were excellent afterwards. Thank you to James and Alison who have invited us and thank you again for a memorable day with our family in Christ Jesus. Ocean of love, thanks and blessings, Peter, Annick, Philippe, Tom and Christine.
Love this church!

I lived in Berkhamsted in the eighties and this was my parish. I discovered many in the community were still traumatised from the strong anti-Catholic abuse endured right into the sixties, stones being thrown at the smaller building used as a temporary church until S.H. was built and curses shouted at Catholics coming out of it. It explained to me, coming from Africa, why everyone was so reserved. Even the Easter morning procession around the grounds was very low key! Hope they are all much more evangelistic these days. The church was locked up outside Mass in the eighties too, because of experiences of vandalism and theft.
On my frequent visits to Sacred Heart church I have, at times, found people outside who wanted to get into the church to pray. One of them asked if the church was ever open except for services. I had to say no, as a general rule. I feel that steps should be taken soon to accommodate people like these and people just needing shelter; is this not what a church is for, to help people in need? Measures can be taken to address petty pilfering etc., if that is a concern.

Excellent team of clergy and a very good choir. One of the few parish churches to offer a monthly sung Evensong.
